  • Curatorial assistance
  • Construction of display components

  • Venue hire coordination

If you are interested, please give us a call at (07) 4721 5251, send us an e-mail info@tmml.org.au or simply drop in and come and see us. Before receiving the downloadable volunteer application form we normally conduct a short interview to get to know your skills and expertise and let you know about our needs and requirements.

Receptionist: One day per week plus stand-in

Do you like meeting people? Do you enjoy being part of a dedicated, friendly crew? Do you love visiting museums and discovering the treasures they hold? Then our current opening for a front desk receptionist might be the perfect position for you!

The position requires working one day per week from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (October-March) and 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 pm (April-September). The person should also be available at short notice to be on reception should the volunteer scheduled for that day be not available to to illness or other reasons.

Responsibilities include:

Opening and closing the museum

Greeting guests and collecting admission fees

Briefing guests on the museum layout and handing out information

Managing our small retail area

Cleaning (toilets) before opening

As a not-for-profit organisation, the museum depends on and values our volunteers. We offer a beautiful location on Ross Creek with cool breezes and a view of the yacht club basin as your “office window.” At the front desk, you’ll have the opportunity to meet people from far and wide who come to visit our museum. Your day includes time for morning coffee and lunch, with the tea and coffee on us. We hold periodic staff meetings over a barbeque, and our annual Christmas party is a big, fun event.

Most of all, you’ll be in the company of a great team of people who look forward to welcoming you. We’ll provide the training. You will need your own transportation.
